Everybody wants the extra twenty five percent. Very few businesses check what it would land on.
The selling is rarely the problem. The problem is that twenty five percent more orders is also twenty five percent more bills, more deliveries, more follow-ups, more payments to chase and more questions to answer, all landing on the same people doing the same work the same way.
Where it actually breaks
Not in production. Usually in the office.
Billing falls a day behind, so collection falls a week behind. Follow-ups start getting missed, so the new customers you worked hard to win get the same slow service that makes them leave. Somebody starts working till nine, and then that becomes normal, and then that person leaves.
And the owner, who was already the bottleneck for approvals, becomes a bigger one, because there are now more things waiting for him.
The growth arrives and the business gets worse. That is the bit nobody warns you about.
How to find your own limit
Pick the thing that happens most often in your business. An order, a job card, a delivery. Count how many you did last month. Then add a quarter.
Now walk through that number with the people who do the work and ask one question at each step. At this volume, what breaks.
They will tell you immediately. People who do the work always know where it is thin. They are rarely asked.
You will usually find two or three places, not twenty. Fix those before the growth comes, not after.
Take last month's numbers and add twenty five percent. Walk it through with your team. What is the first thing that gives way?
Finding those two or three weak points before the growth arrives is work we do often. Tell us your volumes and we will walk them through with you.
